Where We Are
Re•Storying Autism is an international project with its institutional home at Queen’s University, in the land currently known as Kingston, Ontario. COVID-19 compelled us to creatively experiment with online access and collaboratives, and we now hold storytelling workshops both online and in-person. Check out the zines and videos made online with Autistic and neurodivergent storytellers across Canada, the UK and Aotearoa under our Gallery page. To join us, see our News page. Email us at info@restoryingautism.com for more information.
Southwestern Manitoba
We held our first online workshop in Manitoba in 2020. With collaborators Manitoba Metis Federation Southwest and Brandon Friendship Centre, we also held the Indigenous Approaches to Autism online story making workshop in Spring 2022. Other collaborators in Manitoba include Brandon University and the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba.
Southwestern Ontario
Collaborators in Southwestern Ontario include the ReelAbilities Film Festival, and researchers from York University, University of Guelph and Renison College at the University of Waterloo.
We have held three in-person storytelling workshops in Toronto at the School of Disability Studies at Toronto Metropolitan University. An open, in person workshop is planned for Winter/Spring 2026. Check News for more information soon!
Aotearoa and England
Re•Storying Autism held its first online international story making workshop in Spring 2021 with a focus on decolonizing stories of Autism. We worked with Māori and settler story makers, researchers and community at Massey University, Aotearoa, and Sheffield Hallam University, England. In 2025, we held a hui and talanoa with Māori and Pacifica autistic people, service providers and family members. Check out our Gallery to view some of the videos made and our News and Publications pages for more.
